WACTA 2003 Men's Doubles 3.5/4.5 Tournament Results
The WACTA 2003 Men's Doubles 3.5/4.5 tournament, sponsored by Chan &
Associates- Certified Senior Advisor Yen Chan, was successfully
completed on 12/13/03 at Four Seasons Tennis Club. What can we say? Sold
out one more time!!! Our enthusiast players are getting more involved
and more attentive to our call for registration each tournament. It is
just a great turn out. Thanks to generous sponsor, Ms. Yen Chan, every
player not only enjoyed competition but also received a very nice
thermal coffee mug as a memento. Congratulations to the trophy winners

Advanced Youth Tennis Scholarship Sponsored By Rho-Psi Foundation
Rho-Psi Foundation will offer scholarship to advanced young Chinese players in
the Great Washington Area this year. We encourage all Chinese players who are
still in school (high, middle, or elementary schools) to apply. Special
consideration will be given to the members of WACTA. Four advanced players (two
boys and two girls) will be selected by a special committee from WACTA for
scholarship. The first girl and boy selected will receive $600 and the second
boy and girl will receive $400. Please fill out the application form and send it to the following address before
January 7, 2004.

WACTA 2003 Men’s Doubles 3.0/4.0 Tournament Results
The WACTA 2003 Men’s Doubles 3.0/4.0 tournament, sponsored
by TECRO, was successfully completed on 11/15/03 at Four Seasons Tennis
Club. Once again, it was extremely popular. Another sold out event. A
number of new members joined just in-time for the event and our pool of players
is getting very competitive, elevating WACTA to another level. We will see the
follow-on, 3.5/4.5, even more exciting. So please watch out for the announcement in the next few days.

Association (WACTA) to introduce and teach tennis to Chinese youth who are new
to the sport of tennis. WACTA has decided to solicit interested Chinese schools
in the Greater Washington DC areas to submit applications for funding.  For

New Event/Tournament Registration Policy Announcement
Per WACTA's last board of director meeting held on 7/13/03, a new event
registration policy has been decided. This new policy is designed to
improve the overall efficiency of members' registration to each
event/tournament. This new policy will be effective immediately.
Since this policy concerns every one of our members, you will need to
pay attention to this announcement.

The fun and exciting doubles are coming back by
popular demand. Tickets go out really quick, hurry

2002 Men’s Doubles
tournament will be held on December 14 for level 3.0 and 4.0, and December
28 for levels 3.5 and 4.5+. Each tournament runs from 7 pm to 12 midnight
at the Four Seasons Tennis Club in Fairfax, Virginia. 
The tournaments is sponsored by Taiwanese TECRO (3.0 and 4.0) and Yen
Chan (3.5 and 4.5).

Registration
fee is $15.00 per person. Please complete one registration per team. The
higher level of the two players of a team will be registered as the level
of the team. Please indicate your WACTA rating on the form.  If you
are not sure about your WACTA rating, you can check your membership data
on www.wacta.org, or call Kevin at
301-594-0317 day, or at 301-869-2628 night.  The tournament is limited to WACTA members only. If you are
not a current WACTA member and wish to participate, you are welcome to
become a WACTA member. A traditional Chinese dinner box is provided. An
additional dinner box can be reserved for $5. Please fill out the attached

2002 Team Tennis
WACTA
2002 Team Tennis was held on the night of November 16 at
Four Seasons Tennis Club.  Another clash and
“sweat-shed” between mortal “friends” – The south (VA & DC)
and North (MD) squared off at Four Seasons Tennis Club in the evening of
November 16. General Lee (Jameson Lee) and his army of 40 was unable to
sustain the slick attacks by General Lu (Chris Lu)’s Northerners and
once again surrendered the trophy… more colorful description…

& Shaw Ladder Tournament you will play are both indoor and outdoor for
the entire summer.

Now that you are one of the lucky 32 teams who made it to the
tournament, get your tennis gear out and get ready for some real action.
 The
first indoor tournament will be held this coming Saturday (5/18) on Four
Season Tennis Club.

April Social Tennis on April 13th at Four Seasons Tennis Club

Our April Social
Tennis will be held on Saturday, April 13th at Four Seasons Tennis Club,
VA from 7:00 pm to midnight.  The cost is $15 per person and a dinner
box will be served.  Seats are limited and first come first serve
method will be adopted.  This event is open to both members and
non-members.  The format will be conducted both scheduled and
non-scheduled and these formats are great ways to meet other tennis

by our veteran member, Ms. Yen-Den Chan, Financial Consultant, and Taipei
Economic and Cultural Representative Offices (TECRO), our Men's Doubles
Tournaments 
will be held at the Four Seasons Tennis Club in Virginia, on
December 15, 2001 for 3.0 and 4.0 level players and December 29, 2001 for
3.5 and 4.5 players from 7:00 pm till 12:00 
midnight. 
The deadline will be by postmark of December 4th for
tournament to be held on December 15th and by postmark of
December 18th for the tournament to be held on December 29th.  
Due to holiday season and limited spaces, it will 
be first-come-first-base; therefore, please register ASAP. 
The higher level of the two players will determine the competition
level of a team and the ratings will be determined by what is stated in
our 2001 yearbook. 
The tournament is limited to current WACTA members only. 
For those tennis enthusiasts who are eligible for membership and
who are in the process of applying for membership, the membership
registration fee is $10 for single and $15.00 for family. 
The tournament fee is $15.00 and the traditional Chinese dinner box
will be served. Additional dinner box can be reserved for $5. 
Please complete the registration form and mail it, along with a check payable to WACTA, post
marked by the deadline (12/04/01 for 3.0 and 4.0 level and 12/15/01 for
3.5 and 4.5), to WACTA, P.O. Box 1122, Rockville, MD 20849.
 
At least one email address per team is required.
The tournament schedule and information will be distributed through
e-mail only. 
No regular mail will be used to distribute tournament information.

Many
thanks to our sponsor Danny Cheung, Tournament Director James Chia and
four Team Captains, Gwo Fong, Weili Gu, Kevin Zhan and James Chia for
their outstanding support and leadership making this year’s team tennis
a successful one. 
Moreover, this tournament would not be successful one without you,
the member’s participation and support and we thank you. 
It was an exciting tournament and those who witnessed that night
would agree with me. 
It is my privilege to announce the result of this tournament. 
This year’s Champion team, Eagles, was lead by first time
Captain, Kevin Zhan. 
Great job, Captain Kevin and to all the teammates in Eagles. 
The second place goes to the Tigers which was lead by Weili Gu
which was down only by two points to Eagles. 
The third place goes to the Ace Kings team lead by James Chia who
play dual rolls, being both the tournament director and the team captain. 
Thank you, James and great job! 
The fourth places goes to the Performers team lead by Gwo Fong who
also was defeated by only two points. 
Again, we thank you all for your hard works, dedication, support
and participation and we will see you next year.

With
assistance from Biing Lin and his assistant, Esther Wang, WACTA is proudly
featuring our winter social tennis in the Tennis Center at College Park,
MD which is about ¼ mile from University of Maryland. 
Starting January 2002, we will feature once a month winter social
tennis at this new location. 
It’s address is 5200 Paint Branch Parkway, College Park, MD
20740.

Our first winter social tennis will be held on 
Saturday, January 12, 2002 from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm. 
The cost is $15.00 per person and the Chinese dinner box will be
served. 
Addition dinner box can be ordered and it’s $5.00 per box by
contacting Esther Wang no later than 1/10/02. 
This event is open for both members and non-members and it’s the
best way to meet other tennis players/friends. 
It’s never too early to sign up; therefore, tell your friends,
send in your registration, get your tennis gears ready and join us in
January.
