· WACTA Social Mixed Doubles Tennis Party/Clinic on
September 25th, 1999

Did you enjoy Young’s Social Tennis Party that was held on Saturday, May 29th?

Following is your chance again to meet more friends and to play more tennis.

Date: Saturday, September 25, 1999

Place: Four Seasons Tennis Club, Virginia

Time: 7:00 PM - 12:00 PM

Fees: $15 (members and non-members)

Registration Form

We have three parts of this fun event.

1.  Scheduled games (7-10 PM) - the party is intended to be a social mixer, not a
competition, and is limited to a maximum of 64 people (preferably 32 men, 32 women). The
intent is to allow people with different rating levels to play one another, meet new
friends, and most of all HAVE FUN. Please note that you will be playing with a different
partner each match. Participation is limited so priority registration will be given to
members until the deadline. Contact Shing-Bong Chen 703-759-2948 (H) , 301-413-0038 (O)
for more information.

2.  Clinic (7- 9 PM, members and their family) – for beginners and lower
rated players who feel they are not ready or competent to join the tennis party, the
tennis clinic would be an excellent opportunity to improve your skills at a minimum cost.
All instructors are USPTR certified. We encourage all new members and beginners to attend.
Please contact Huei-Hsiung Yang 301-279-7286 (H), 301-590-1471 (O) for detailed
information.

3.  Unscheduled games (10 – 12 PM) – all 10 courts will be opened to all
participants for doubles. Sign up sheets will be on the registration desk after 9:30 PM.

A traditional Chinese snack (food) is provided. Participation is limited so priority
registration will be given to members until the deadline. Please register early. The due
date for all registrations is September 10th (postmarked). For more details,
please see the attached form.

· WACTA 99 Youth Social Doubles on 11/6

On Saturday, November 6, 1999, WACTA will conduct an event exclusively for its youth
members. This Youth Social Tennis allows those young tennis players a chance to interact
with other players after long and hard summer training courses.

The purpose of this event is to let WACTA members see their youngsters enjoying tennis
while competing on the courts. Therefore, players of the same age/level will be grouped as
doubles teams. Ages under 12 will play from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm, and above 12 years old
will play the second half (8:30 pm – 10:00 pm). Unscheduled games will follow (10:00
– 12:00 PM). All 6 courts will be opened to all participants for doubles. Sign up
sheets for the unscheduled time will be on the registration desk after 9:30 PM.

Trophies will be awarded to ALL participants. Pizza snack and drinks will be served to
the players. Since the space is limited to 6 courts, we encourage all Youth Program
students to attend, and to sign up early. For more detailed Youth Social Doubles
information, please call Huei-Hsiung Yang at 301-279-7286 (H), 301-590-1471 (O).

tournament will be held at the Four Seasons Tennis Club on November 20th. The
registration deadline is November 1st (Postmarked). You may register as an

for the team captain position (plays free) or for general questions.

· Our Successful WACTA Summer Camp

Jointly sponsored by WACTA and CCACC, our summer camp at Maryland's Salisbury State
University was completed on July 6th. This year the participants in this 4-day
and 3-night event neared 400, of which WACTA members accounted for the majority. The
programs this year were innovative and exciting. The weather was perfect, irresistible for
taking a brief break on Ocean City's boardwalk. The university’s facilities included
an indoor swimming pool and meal service, and were even better than the past years. The
tennis clinic classes were, as usual, popular and provided excellent instruction. Many
people took the 8-hour course, which was spread out over three days. Because of careful
planning and the quality of coaches we had, every trainee gained many valuable skills from
the classes. A tournament was held on Friday night in which there were many close matches.
The results were as follows:

· Our Successful WACTA Youth Summer Camp

Sponsored by Rho Psi Foundation Inc, WACTA successfully completed the
1999 junior intermediate programs. This year, WACTA offered the intermediate program in
both Maryland and Virginia. Our dedicated parents and WACTA staffs were driving too these
two locations during this extremely hot summer for three weeks. Our youth did not let us
down. They worked so hard, and all of them move like pro’s on the tennis court now.
Many, many thanks to Wen-Bin and Biing for organizing this highly quality program. Many,
many thanks also to Shing-Bong and Huie-Hsiung who visited each site many times to
encourage young WACTA players.
